Lesson 6 of 6 · Beginner
Practicing at home
Fifteen minutes in a kitchen beats two hours you never do. A realistic practice routine.
5 minute read
Slow it down first
Play the song at 75% speed and walk the dance without music twice. Speed is the last thing to add, not the first.
One section at a time
Drill the eight counts you keep losing, not the whole dance. You already know the parts that work.
Say it out loud
Naming steps as you do them — 'vine right, vine left, jazz box' — moves them into memory much faster than silent repetition.
Stop before you're sick of it
Fifteen minutes, then stop. You'll come back tomorrow. That's the entire trick.
